New Work Works

New Work Works is an ongoing series of small works linking practical life and meditation by combining utilitarian materials with fine art. The pieces are made of wood and paper and incorporate commonplace objects such as mirrors, candles and plants. The works are developed with two presentation formats in mind. Combined together, the pieces create a flowing and complete installation. Independently, each piece maintains its own function and simple beauty while still retaining the magic of the whole.

Dreamscape-style take-homes, wall pieces and desk objects are developed to encourage a meditative environment in the home. Using bold colors and visual simplicity, each piece adds a moment of visual repose to the home while maintaining its intended function. This dance of form and function serves to question the role of the art object. Instead of creating a piece of art for art’s sake, Conarro creates pieces that also serve a practical role in the homes of their owners. By presenting the pieces as part of a whole, each individual piece provides an independent reminder of the quiet power of the large-scale installation from which it came.

New Works Works has been integrated in Dreamscape Now projects such the Hapeville Art Walk.

Select pieces are available at the Dreamers Welcome Museum Store.
